Turkish armed unmanned sea vehicle (USV) ULAQ has been sold to the Qatari ministry of the interior marking the first export of the USV.
A contract between turkish firm, Meteksan, the manufacturer of ULAQ and the Qatari ministry of the Interior was signed during the Milipol 2024 arms fair currently on in Doha, Qatar.
The ULAQ 11 Port/Base Protection Unmanned Marine Vehicle to be produced under the contract will be used by the Qatar Coast Guard Command in reconnaissance, surveillance, intelligence missions and critical facility base protection activities. It is manufactured by Meteksan.
The ULAQ 11, which will be delivered following the contract signing, will be equipped with a 12.7 mm automatic weapon system and radar, encrypted communication systems and autonomy software on a highly capable platform. The ULAQ will be able to carry out armed patrols around bases and ports and use firepower when necessary.
The ULAQ USV has a cruising range of 400 kilometers, a speed of 70 kilometers per hour, day/night vision capabilities, autonomous navigation, an electronic warfare protected communication infrastructure and is manufactured from advanced composite materials.
It can be used in conjunction with land mobile vehicles and from headquarters command centers or floating platforms in the execution of missions such as Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Intelligence, and Surface Warfare.
