Russian Security Service Detains Ukrainian Suspect in Car Bombing Case

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained a 35-year-old man from Ukraine's Zaporizhia region, suspected of detonating a car bomb in Berdyansk, according to an FSB statement.

The man allegedly received orders and a $10,000 payment promise from Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate to assassinate an acquaintance slated for a judicial position.

Investigators report that the homemade explosive device, provided through a hidden location by the suspect's handler, detonated while the car was parked near the intended target’s home. No one was in the vehicle at the time, and no injuries were reported.

The detained individual, who reportedly worked in Ukraine’s prosecutor’s office prior to Zaporizhia’s integration into Russia, has confessed and is cooperating with Russian authorities. A criminal case is now underway as the investigation continues.
