Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has secured a NOK 10 billion ($902 million), multi-year contract with the US Navy for the delivery of Naval Strike Missiles (NSM) over five years.
The contract includes options that could increase its value to NOK 12 billion.
The NSM is central to the US Navy's Over-the-Horizon Weapons System (OTH-WS), being installed on Littoral Combat Ships and CONSTELLATION-class Frigates for long-range strike capabilities.
Kongsberg is supplying NSM to the US Marine Corps as part of the Navy Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System (NMESIS), enhancing the Corps' ability to target enemy ships from land-based platforms.
“This contract reflects strong demand for our strike missiles across NATO and allied nations. To meet this demand, we’ve opened a new missile factory in Norway and announced two more in Australia and the US. The multi-year contract ensures stability for KONGSBERG and our supply chain,” said Eirik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
KONGSBERG recently announced the building of a new missile factory in James City County, Virgina, in response to increasing demand for JSM and NSM.
