Teledyne FLIR Defense has won a five-year contract worth $168.3 million from the U.S. Army for low-rate initial production of enhanced Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle (NBCRV) Sensor Suites for the M1135 Stryker.

This Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract will support modernization efforts, and Teledyne FLIR has also received an initial $7.5 million delivery order.

Teledyne FLIR, serving as the lead integrator on the project, will provide the Army’s NBCRV system with updated chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) sensors designed to enhance autonomous detection and reduce operational burden on troops. Teledyne previously delivered prototype Sensor Suite upgrades, which passed government testing, securing this production contract.

The NBCRV Sensor Suite will incorporate FLIR Defense’s R80D SkyRaider drone and the MUVE B330 biological detection payload for unmanned aerial systems (UAS), as well as an command and control system for streamlined sensor integration. This system uses sensor fusion and automation to support efficient decision-making and minimize cognitive load for users.

The upgraded sensor technology aims to safeguard personnel from weapons of mass destruction and improve operational outcomes on future battlefields.

Production for the NBCRV program is set to continue through 2029 at Teledyne facilities in Stillwater, Oklahoma; Elkridge, Maryland; and Tucson, Arizona.
