The U.S. State Department has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale to Ukraine for Blanket Order Sustainment of U.S. Army-supplied systems and related equipment, valued at an estimated $100 million.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has officially notified Congress about the proposal, which includes the refurbishment of U.S.-supplied military vehicles and related services.

Ukraine's request includes a broad range of equipment and support services, such as technical assistance, training, publications, and logistics to ensure effective program support. These upgrades aim to improve Ukraine's sustainment capabilities and enhance its operational readiness.

The decision aligns with the U.S. foreign policy objectives of bolstering security in Europe and promoting political stability, the Pentagon said in a statement. The proposed sale is designed to strengthen Ukraine's capacity to maintain and repair U.S.-provided vehicles and weapon systems, crucial for its defense efforts. This support will reduce financial pressures associated with repairs, allowing for a faster and more efficient repair cycle and directly impacting Ukraine's battlefield effectiveness.

Importantly, the sale will not alter the region's military balance. The U.S. will source the necessary equipment from approved contractors.

This military assistance forms part of broader U.S. support aimed at improving Ukraine's military capabilities amid ongoing regional challenges.
