Saab has received an order from BAE Systems to deliver Giraffe 4A radar systems to the U.S. Air Forces in Europe.
The deliveries for the order, valued at approximately $48 million (525 MSEK), are set to begin in 2027, with Saab manufacturing the systems at its facilities in the U.S. and Sweden.
Erik Smith, President and CEO of Saab in the U.S., stated, “The Giraffe 4A radar system will modernize the U.S. Air Force’s expeditionary combat airfield surveillance operations and strengthen sensing capabilities, addressing a critical need overseas.”
The Giraffe 4A is a digital multi-channel radar featuring Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology. It provides long-range surveillance and air base defense in a highly mobile package.
BAE Systems Technical Solutions & Services Inc. serves as the prime contractor for this initiative, which aims to modernize the U.S. Air Forces in Europe’s expeditionary combat airfield surveillance capabilities.
