The U.S. Navy has awarded Data Link Solutions (DLS) a $1 billion ceiling IDIQ contract for the Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS JTRS).
This contract to Data Link Solutions, a joint venture between BAE Systems and Collins Aerospace, supports advanced communication systems for military operations.
It covers the production, retrofits, development, and sustainment of MIDS JTRS terminals, enhancing situational awareness and enabling secure Link 16 communications for sea, ground, and air assets.
Amber Dolan, director of Data Link Solutions, stated, “MIDS JTRS connects different platform generations on a common network, offering stable and secure communication in contested scenarios. This award enables Data Link Solutions to modernize thousands of MIDS JTRS terminals, enhancing capabilities for the U.S. Navy and coalition forces.”
MIDS JTRS is a four-channel software-defined radio that supports Link 16 and other protocols for real-time tactical data sharing among NATO and allied forces. It provides scalable, low-latency communication in contested environments and is being fielded on U.S. aircraft such as the F-15, F-16, F/A-18, and F-22, as well as naval and command assets.
Data Link Solutions (DLS), a leading supplier of Link 16 systems, has delivered over 9,000 terminals worldwide. MIDS JTRS development will take place in New Jersey and Iowa, with a $116 million task order already awarded for U.S. and NATO forces.
