The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) confirmed the completion of the system development for the Personal Battlefield Visualization System on December 18 during a meeting at Hanwha Systems, the project's research and development organization.
The Personal Battlefield Visualization System is a personal combat technology that enables soldiers to share the locations of enemies and allies in real-time using personal radios and commercial smartphone-based information processors. The system facilitates rapid situational reporting and decision-making by transmitting standardized messages and images. It also allows for targeting and shooting from concealed positions, enhancing both combat power and soldier survivability.
The project received combat fit approval in June 2024 and finalized defense standards in July. From August to November, it underwent a mass production readiness evaluation conducted by the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses, achieving Level 8 manufacturing maturity, which qualifies it for full-scale mass production.
DAPA plans to sign a mass production contract soon, with production expected to begin in the near future.
