Russia’s Irkutsk Aviation Plant is assembling first three Yak-130M combat training aircraft, designed for both pilot training and light attack missions.
The aircraft’s first flight schedule will be determined after the completion of the prototype and ground testing.
The Yak-130M is a modernized version of the Yak-130, originally developed for training pilots of fourth- and fifth-generation fighter jets. The new variant will feature additional weapons, including air-to-air missiles and high-precision air-to-ground munitions with satellite and laser guidance. It will also incorporate upgraded onboard systems to enhance operational capabilities in adverse weather conditions and nighttime missions.
The improvements aim to strengthen the Yak-130M’s export potential, the company said.
