Northrop to Equip Australian C-130J Fleet with New Electronic Warfare System
RAAF C-130J aircraft

The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has selected Northrop Grumman’s AN/ALQ-251 radio frequency countermeasures system to enhance the survivability of its C-130J airlifter fleet.

The system is designed to protect against weapon systems and electronic warfare threats in complex electromagnetic environments.

The AN/ALQ-251 provides radar warning, precision direction finding, and real-time situational awareness of radio frequency threats. The integration of the system with RAAF’s C-130J fleet leverages its commonality with an existing U.S. program, reducing lifecycle costs and enhancing interoperability between allied forces.
