SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company, is exhibiting its latest technology as part of the Finmeccanica Group pavilion at Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) 2010. As a leading supplier of sensor systems, SELEX Galileo will showcase its range of airborne radar, defensive aids suites, aircraft and mission avionics for surveillance, and combat and ISTAR applications in land and airborne domains. Central to the Company’s offering is its world leading AESA airborne radar technology, with systems that exploit this technology being relied on by customers in the UK, US, Italy and South America. Another key pillar of SELEX Galileo’s portfolio is its range of airborne Electro-Optic (EO) systems. This includes the EOST 46 four sensor turret, which has been selected for five different platforms, and the VigilX system. VigilX is based on distributed sensor technology combined with advanced image processing algorithms. It allows pilots and flight crew to “see through” the hull of their aircraft by fusing onboard sensor data to generate a 360° panoramic integrated picture around the aircraft, providing complete situational awareness. SELEX Galileo also provides life saving defensive systems for fixed and rotary wing platforms. The ground-breaking HIDAS defensive aid suite is installed on Apache helicopters in the UK, Kuwait and Greece, and the Aircraft Gateway Processor (AGP) currently equips the US Army’s Apache fleet. The Company’s Airborne Tactical Observation and Surveillance (ATOS) system will be present at the Show in its most comprehensive form, featuring the Gabbiano radar and the EOST 46 turret which is currently in service on the Nigerian Air Force ATR42MP. The Gabbiano, selected for the AW 139 helicopter, is a versatile, x-band, pulse doppler radar. A range of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), from mini/micro up to tactical models, come fully equipped with sensors and networked capability, delivering high levels of situational awareness and contributing to force protection with modern ISTAR applications. The tactical UAS Falco has attracted international attention and has been selected by a customer in the Middle East as well as another international customer. The capability to simulate tactical scenarios and evaluate the performance of next generation sensors is provided by the SELEX Galileo Battlelab, which effectively integrates the Company’s UAS solutions. SELEX Galileo is proud of its contribution to the Eurofighter Typhoon programme, where the Company is responsible for the delivery of critical mission systems. These include the radar, defensive aid suite, towed decoy, ‘Pirate’ Infrared Search and Track (IRST) and over 60 percent of the fighter’s avionics suite. The partner of choice for next generation aircraft, SELEX Galileo has been selected by SAAB to jointly develop the AESA radar and IRST solutions for their Gripen NG fighter. The Company’s Raven ES-05 is a wide field of regard radar system optimised for multi-role/swing-role operations, while the Skyward G provides full operational search and track functionality with a stealth capability.
