Eurofighter insights into Typhoon multi-mission role in Libya at Paris Air Show 2011

Eurofighter is preparing to provide unique insights into the Eurofighter Typhoon performance in the Libyan conflict at the Paris Air Show 2011. A special media briefing is being held to show how the Typhoon has been active in both air-to-ground and air-to-air roles. A press release from Maialen Gutierrez, Eurofighter spokesperson has said that by Royal Air Force Typhoon Pilot Squadron Leader Rupert Joel would give the briefing. While enforcing the no-fly Zone over Libya, Nato planes, notably the Eurofighter Typhoon and Tornado and the Dassault Rafale have been active in attacking ground targets with laser guided bombs. Precision hits have been scored against stationary tanks and artillery command posts, according to information from the U.K. MoD.The Eurofighter Typhoon and the Dassault Rafale are finalists in India’s campaign to buy 126 fighter aircraft plus options totaling to about US$12 billion. The two aircrafts’ deployment by NATO in the Libyan conflicts is seen by some analysts as part of a campaign to make the aircraft battle-proven before the big contest concludes in New Delhi.
