MDA Awards Tech Development Contracts for SM-3 Missile

The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) is announcing the award of a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to Aerojet of Rancho Cordova, Calif., with an award value of $15,398,702. Under this contract (HQ0147-11-C-0017), Aerojet will develop and test specific liquid divert and attitude control system technologies of interest to the MDA. This contract represents part of the MDA’s technology development strategy to improve performance and reduce risk for the Standard Missile-3 Block IIB. This contract was a competitively procured award and the work will be performed at the Rancho Cordova, Calif., location from September 2011 through September 2013. Fiscal year 2011 research, development, test and evaluation funds in the amount of $906,915 will be used to incrementally fund this effort. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This is not a Foreign Military Sale acquisition. (PWR), Hartford, Conn., with an award value of $13,961,119. Under this contract (HQ0147-11-C-0016), Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne will develop and test specific liquid divert and attitude control system technologies of interest to the MDA. This contract represents part of the MDA’s technology development strategy to improve performance and reduce risk for the Standard Missile-3 Block IIB. This contract was a competitively procured award and the work will be performed at the Canoga Park, Calif., location from September 2011 through September 2013. Fiscal 2011 research, development, test and evaluation funds in the amount of $706,914 will be used to incrementally fund this effort. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This is not a Foreign Military Sale acquisition. The MDA, Huntsville, Alabama, is the contracting activity.
