Saab has been awarded a contract in open competition from the German Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement (BWB) for development and serial deliveries of the BT46 simulator for the German AGDUS training concept (a dual-simulator training system). The simulator vill be used for the Grenade Machine Gun with 40mm ammunition. The total order amounts to 40 MSEK. “Germany is an important market for Saab. With this order our German customer again shows confidense in our ability to solve challenges in simulation of a complex platform,” says Claes-Peter Cederlöf, Vice President Marketing Training & simulation, Saab. The project plan is tight, with delivery of two preserial systems for tests and qualification in November 2011, and serial deliveries of 82 systems in November 2012. The BT46 two-way simulator has shown itself as a unique system, that can be adapted to meet a huge variation of needs. A two-way simulator has the ability to simulate the ballistics and time of flight of a projectile in real time, with a high level of precision and simultaneously give immediate and realistic feedback to the gunner and the target.
