DCNS Wins Contract for French Surveillance from France DoD

DCNS, a world leader in naval defense and innovator in energy, and STX France, an international shipbuilding group, have partnered to submit a joint big for the maintenance and support of French Navy patrol frigates based overseas. This bid has now been accepted by the Fleet Support Services department, which has awarded the contract to the partners. Notified on December 20, 2011, the contract covers the operational maintenance of six frigates was awarded to DCNS - STX France for a period of six years (2012-2017). This class of ships has demonstrated a high level of operational availability, and will now benefit from the high reactivity of the two companies, whose expertise and skills are widely recognized. Deployed in three of the world's oceans, the patrol frigates are home-ported as follows: -- Martinique (Fort de France): Germinal and Ventôse; -- Réunion (Port des Galets): Floreal and Nivôse; -- Tahiti (Papeete): Prairial; and -- New Caledonia (Nouméa): Vendémiaire. The work carried out under this contract will be made mainly sub-contracted to local businesses by prime contractors DCNS and STX.
