DGA Wins Contract for Large-Caliber Ammunition from US DoD

The Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) on December 30, 2011 awarded a multi-year contract for the supply of large-caliber ammunition to Nexter Munitions. The contract covers the development, qualification and production of 100 mm caliber ammunition for the Navy and 105mm, 120mm and 155 mm ammunition for the Army. Deliveries will be spread out until 2019. This contract was negotiated with the dual aim of meeting the needs of the forces, in light of recent feedback from operational engagements, and of supporting critical industry capabilities and skills. It is part of a concerted initiative intended to strengthen the national industrial base for ammunition, which is a major requirement for the security of supply of our armed forces. The visibility that this contract provides to Nexter Munitions will allow the company to adapt its industrial capabilities, and thus to increase its competitiveness on export markets.
