Airbus Military and PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) signed a firm contract on Wednesday to supply nine C295 military transport aircrafts for delivery to the Indonesian Ministry of Defense.
The contract signing ceremony at the Singapore Airshow was attended by Minister of Defense, Prof. Dr. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, and the Chief of Armed Forces, Admiral Agus Suhartono. The aircraft, designated CN295, will be operated by the Indonesian Air Force across the country including its 17,000 islands. Officials said the aircraft will be used for military, logistical, humanitarian and medical evacuation missions. The first aircraft will be handed over in 2012 and by summer 2014 all aircraft would be delivered.
