Russia To Buy Multipurpose Helicopters From Eurocopter

The Russian Defense Ministry is planning to buy at least 45 light multipurpose helicopters from a foreign manufacturer, a Russian daily reported on Wednesday. A defense industry source was quoted in Vedomosti as saying that a contract worth over 6 billion rubles ($201 million) for the purchase of 15 AS350 and 30 AS355 Ecureil helicopters made by Eurocopter. The Defense Ministry is considering purchasing a total of 100 helicopters for training purposes,the daily said.
