CAE is applying its expertise to support the rapidly growing need for Unmanned
Aerial System (UAS) mission training capabilities. At Defexpo 2012, CAE will
demonstrate its UAS mission training solution to meet the demanding training tasks of a C4ISTAR operation. The demonstration will include a medium altitude long endurance (MALE) UAS performing reconnaissance and surveillance over a highfidelity common database (CDB). The scenario will include maritime, ground, and air vehicles, as well as lifeforms generated with CAE’s high-fidelity simulation software. CAE’s advanced instructor operator station (IOS) will manage the mission training scenario and serve as the mission brief/debrief station. With the tremendous surge in the number, variety and increasing complexity of UAS operations comes even greater demands for operationally-trained UAS pilots and sensor operators. This demonstration will highlight a flexible and integrated mission training capability for individual and team training, with the ability to link to distributed mission operations. Also on display are maintenance training solutions and joint theatre-level simulation (JTLS). At Defexpo 2012, CAE
will be demonstrating the virtual maintenance training solutions it has developed for the U.S. Army’s Abrams tank. This is a laptop or desktop-based solution that uses high-fidelity, high-functionality simulations of the various systems, and their virtual environments feature extensive modelling of the equipment to maximize realism.
