Saudi-German Tank Deal Reportedly Worth $12.6 billion

Germany could bag one of the largest-ever deals defense deals over the next few weeks as Saudi Arabia doubles its battle tank requirements. Saudi Arabia earlier required 300 tanks but is now requesting 600-800 Leopard battle tanks in a deal worth $12.6 billion. According to German media reports, the deal is opposed by the German Chancellery, Foreign and Defense ministries while the Economy Ministry is the support of the transaction. The Saudis are looking to wrap up the deal by mid-July before the month of Ramadan commences.
