The US Defense Security Corporation Agency has informed Congress about a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) of nine ground controlled approach radar systems to Poland. The deal is estimated to be worth $200 million. The contract will include a primary surveillance radar, secondary surveillance radar and precision approach radar with ICAO Category II, PSR, PAR, SSR, Very High Frequency/Ultra High Frequency radio equipment, systems installation and testing, spare and repair parts, personnel training and training equipment, and logistics support services. “The proposed sale will further standardize the air navigation and approach radar capabilities of Poland, increasing aviation safety across the country and region,” the DSCA said. Earlier Poland had signed an agreement with the U.S to by 3 GCA radar systems in 2000, but it failed due to lack of compliance with Poland’s offset regulation.
