Serco Inc. has won a $73 million contract with the Defense Department joint program office to upgrade C4ISR equipment and systems on Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles with an overall value of $73 million. The Company will provide sustainment and maintenance support services and upgrade C4ISR systems on-site in Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Qatar. The MRAP vehicles are designed to protect U.S. warfighters from Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks and ambushes. Kent Brown, Vice President of Engineering at Serco, said, "Serco has supported SPAWAR with C4ISR solutions for the past twenty-four years, and we will apply our expertise in upgrading the systems and equipment on the MRAP vehicle". Serco will enhance the integrated communication systems on U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corp, and U.S. Navy MRAP vehicles used by the warfighters to stay connected through the interoperability of ground-based and airborne equipment.
