Data Link Solutions To Provide MIDS- Low Volume Terminals To U.S

Data Link Solutions (DLS), a Rockwell Collins and BAE Systems joint venture, has won a $18.5 million contract from the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) for production of Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Low Volume Terminals (LVT) for the U.S. and Coalition Forces. According to the terms of the contract, MIDS-LVT Tactical Data Links Radios supporting U.S. platforms such as the F-16, MH-60R, MH-60S, F/A-18, and Foreign Military Sales including Finland, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and South Korea. The MIDS-LVT terminals provide real-time data communications, situational awareness, navigation, and digital voice, all in a jam-resistant, crypto-secured package. “This award reinforces DLS as a leading provider of Link-16 terminals and solutions,” said DLS Director Jack Stevens. “DLS is committed to providing U.S. and coalition warfighters with reliable and protected access to the time-critical information they need to efficiently complete their missions anywhere in the world". MIDS-LVT was developed by a multinational consortium to provide Link-16 capability at a low weight, volume and cost. Link-16 provides secure, high capacity real-time data communications, ultra high frequency (UHF) and line of sight (LOS) situational awareness and navigation, and in some cases, digital voice and TACAN, all in a jam-resistant, crypto-secured package.
