Russia and Peru are to sign an upgrade contract for Lima’s fleet of Mikoyan MiG-29 Fulcrum fighters by the end of May, Russian officials announced recently.

Details of the contract are not yet known.

In 2008, Peru signed a contract with Russia's UAC MiG to upgrade eight of the original MiG-29S standard aircraft to MiG-29SMT standard, with work completed by 2012.

The Peruvian air force operates a total of 16 Mi-25 and Mi-35P helicopters.
