Raytheon Company delivered the first NASAMS High Mobility Launcher (HML) to Norway, under a contract signed in November 2011.
Norway is the first nation to receive the new operational capacity of the air defense system NASAMS.
“Air defense is an important part of a country's total defense and defense are very pleased with this increase in capacity of the air defense system NASAMS,” says Brigadier Frode Flølo, chief air capabilities in the Defence Logistics Organisation (FLO).
The new High Mobility Launcher (HML) will work with existing NASAMS launching ramps, and will improve the opportunities for mobility in the sum increases NASAMS system's overall usability.
“We are proud that the Norwegian Armed Forces are the first to take HML in use as a new element in NASAMS portfolio. HML would also fit well into NASAMS export opportunities where we look at several existing and new opportunities,” says Eirik Lie in Kongsberg Defence Systems.
Several nations have chosen NASAMS as their air defense system, including Norway, Finland, Netherlands, United States, and Spain.
