The South Korean Defense Ministry announced today that it will showcase a cruise missile capable of surgical strikes at the military parade in Seoul next month.

The October 1st parade will showcase military arsenals such as tanks, rockets and helicopters and fighter jets, a ministry official was quoted as saying by AFP.

The parade will also display an indigenously developed cruise missile, Hyeonmu 3, which was first deployed last year.

"It is a precision-guided weapon that can identify and strike the office window of the North's command headquarters," ministry spokesman Kim Min-Seok said during its third nuclear test carried on February 12.

The Seoul event will be much more subdued in comparison with North Korea's over the top display of military might in July to mark the 60th anniversary of the Korean War armistice.
