Rockwell Collins recently delivered the Patrol Persistent Surveillance System (PPSS) to the Australian Army for constant monitoring of threats against military bases.

“This system has provided the eyes and ears for Australian Defence Forces operating in potentially hazardous regions where information is critical to mission success,” said Colin Mahoney, senior vice president of International & Service Solutions for Rockwell Collins.

PPSS is made up of a meshed network of unattended ground sensors and video cameras that monitor movement, sound and vibration. Alarms from the system are relayed to an operator console and are displayed on a digital map system.

In fact, the program has been so successful to date that the combined project team was recently recognized by the Australian Institute of Project Management for Excellence in Project Management.
