In a test of its missile that surprised the world; Russia conducted the longest range surface-to-air missile test to date with the S-500 in May 2018. The S-500 was able to hit a target almost 300 miles (482 km) away. The system’s claimed range is 600 km.
The S-500 is designed for intercepting intercontinental ballistic missiles, as well as hypersonic cruise missiles and low earth orbit satellites.
