Eurofighter Typhoon Capabilities Using A Simulator At LIMA 2017

BAE Systems' Aircrew adviser and Eurofighter Typhoon pilot, Paul Smith demonstrated the aircraft capabilities using a simulator at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2017.

The simulator is an exact replica of the Typhoon’s cockpit, includes a Head Up Display (the demonstration of the visor is in the previous video), G-seat acceleration effects, full avionics and sensor suit suitable for training purposes.

The synthetic visualizing system project images of the external scenario along with the ambience on a spherical dome with high-resolution projectors and target projectors assuring a wide vision range to the pilot.

Smith demonstrates hitting targets using air-to-air missiles, Meteor, heat seeking missiles, and air-to-surface missiles, 'Brimstone'. Smith also demonstrates the Striker II Helmet display.

The Head Equipment Assembly (HEA), developed by BAE Systems' Electronic Systems, comprises the aircrew helmet and all the sub-system elements needed to display a real world overlaid picture on the helmet visor.

Outside the Exhibitions hall there was a full scale replica of Typhoon on display.

BAE Systems, earlier today announced that Esterline will deliver two visual systems in the Eurofighter Typhoon simulator facilities at RAF Lossiemouth, in Scotland, UK, by the end of this year.
