MTL Group To Debut IMPAS Armour And SMARTbend At DSA 2014

MTL Group will be showcasing several key armour components including IMPAS armour and SMARTbend for blast and ballistic applications for the very first time at DSA 2014, 14-17 April.

“The Asian market is an area we have seen significant growth over the past few years at MTL Group. As well as offering add on armour upgrades to existing vehicles, our customers are looking for support from the concept design stage to reduce weight, cost, welding and improve protection”, Owen Hall, BD Manager for Defence and Security said. “Due to the nature of SMARTbend, no heat is introduced into the material so the original mechanical properties of the steel are maintained unlike other processes that rely on heat and expensive, bespoke tooling to bend this type of material.”

“The success of IMPAS Armour (add-on protection up to STANAG 4569 Level IV) has given our customers a lower cost alternative to composite and ceramics which has been received well in Asia”, Hall added.
