Lockheed Martin will provide enhanced laser-guided training rounds (ELGTR) to the U.S. Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force under two contracts totaling $34.3 million.

A $21.8 million contract represents the Navy’s second order of ELGTRs since 2013, with Lockheed Martin agreeing to provide ELGTRs, logistics support and associated technical data through 2017.

Under a separate $12.5 million contract, Lockheed Martin will provide ELGTRs to the Royal Canadian Air Force beginning this year, with options to extend the deal through 2020. The Royal Canadian Air Force first purchased laser-guided training rounds in 1996.

ELGTR is compatible with F-16 fighter jets and other aircraft used by the two countries’ militaries. The system is used in sub-caliber live-fire training exercises as a way to preserve tactical laser-guided bomb inventory.
