Lockheed Martin will deliver five Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods (ATP) worth US$ 16.5 million to Royal Jordanian Air Force

The contract involves integration, program management and other hardware to equip its fleet of F-16 aircraft. The Sniper ATP is a single, lightweight pod with much lower aerodynamic drag than the legacy systems it replaces.

Jordan becomes 16th international customer for Lockheed’s Sniper ATP program.

“Sniper ATP will provide the Royal Jordanian Air Force with long-range target detection and identification and surveillance for all missions, including close air support of ground forces,” said Rich Lovette, Sniper international program director at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.

Sniper ATP detects, identifies, automatically tracks and laser designates small tactical targets at long ranges. It also supports employment of all laser and GPS-guided weapons against multiple fixed and moving targets. A video datalink enables pilots to share real-time video with troops on the ground for improved situational awareness and rapid target coordination.

The Sniper ATP’s interoperability use the pod across multiple platforms, including U.S. Air Force and multinational F-15, F-16, F-18, A-10, B-1 and B-52 aircraft.
