Oshkosh Completes Requirements For United States JLTV Program

Oshkosh’s Light Combat Tactical All-Terrain Vehicle (L-ATV) has completed 200,000 miles and other requirements for Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) testing under the US military Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) program.

Oshkosh delivered 22 fully integrated JLTV prototypes for government testing in August 2013, and has so far completed every program milestone. EMD testing, training and support is to run through till November.

“The nature of warfare has changed, and future battlefields will bring an unpredictable combination of terrain, tactics and threats,” said John Urias, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Oshkosh Defense.

“The JLTV program fills a critical capability gap between the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) and larger Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles in service today.”

Urias added, "Oshkosh is prepared to begin JLTV low rate initial production immediately should the company be awarded the production contract."

The L-ATV has a lightweight, compact design to provide advanced protection, off-road mobility, maneuverability and speed. The vehicle has been designed to operate in a range of threat levels and terrains. 

Oshkosh received the EMD phase contract in 2012 alongside AM General and Lockheed Martin.
