Raytheon has won a $109 million engineering-services contract to ensure readiness of the Patriot air missile and defense system from the U.S Army Aviation and Missile Command Wednesday.

System analysis, software development, testing and logistics support, and other country-specific system requirements are part of the contract.

"Customers around the world will benefit from the maintenance and upgrades that result from this contract -- especially the technical baseline improvements designed to counter evolving threats," said Ralph Acaba, vice president of Integrated Air and Missile Defense at Raytheon IDS, in a statement.
