BAE Systems Delivers CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicle To Norway

BAE Systems has delivered the first series-produced 144 CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) to the Norwegian Defense Logistics Organization.

BAE Systems is under contract to upgrade 103 existing Norwegian CV90s and build an additional 41 for a total fleet of 144 under a program understood to be worth $500 million, various media reported.

The improved CV9030 for Norway includes armour protection enhancements, digital electronic architecture, improved situational awareness systems, and a remote weapon station, among other changes. Five CV90 variants are on order for Norway, with all the vehicles set to be delivered by 2018.

The handover of the first series-produced vehicle on 24 February follows the handover of the first two pre-series vehicles on 25 February 2014".

The CV90 is a tracked vehicle that can carry between six and eight fully equipped soldiers, depending on the variants. Some of the variants that Norwegian Army fleet included this year are 74 infantry fighting variants, 21 reconnaissance variants, 15 command vehicles, and 32 engineering and multi-role and tow driver training vehicles.
