Russia’s arms exporter, Rosoboronexport has offered to collaborate with Turkey to create amphibious hovercraft for the Turkish Navy.
Anatoly Aksyonov, the company’s chief delegate was quoted as saying by Tass at the IDEF-2015 on Thursday, "We have been cooperating in the creation of smaller amphibious hovercraft, as well as the integration of combat systems of Russian manufacture with Turkish naval platforms".
Russia and Turkey have tested a joint short range air defense system."We and a Turkish company have performed an integration of our complex of short range with their combat platform and it has confirmed its characteristics," Aksyonov added.
“The Russian name of this system is Igla. This project is ready and has been tested, and now an issue of its manufacturing is being discussed with the customer," Anatoly Aksynov said.
If Turkey equips these systems with its own missiles rather than the Russian ones then "there will be no questions." This issue is up to the Turkish side, the Rosoboronexport representative said.
Apart from the amphibious hovercrafts, Turkish officials are also interested in the acquisition of Russian short-range missile defense systems, Aksyonov said. Turkey would be responsible for the manufacture of the systems.
