Maritime data and Analytics Company Windward has unveiled a new version of its MARINT intelligence product today at IMDEX Asia 2015 in Singapore, Shepherd media reported.

MARINT is the first activity-based intelligence (ABI) product in the maritime domain that allows security and intelligence agencies to preemptively identify risks at sea. The identification of risk provides adequate time to prepare and respond to the threats.

MARINT is capable of analyzing the patterns of ships engaged in illicit activity and then find other unknown vessels that fit similar patterns. The type of intelligence received can also be customised to fit a specific agency’s area of operations. Further, the activities can be analyzed from the last four years.

With this new version, MARINT offers an Early Warning system, a module that provides real-time alerts on ships that match each agency's interests and specific risk indicators.

It also offers another module, a Target Discovery system, which allows agencies to go beyond known threats to reveal unknown targets, with or without prior intelligence.

The Target Discovery system automatically flags ships that deviate from their patterns of life - suggesting a possible new threat.  It also analyzes the patterns of individual ships known to be engaged in illicit activity and then finds others that fit similar patterns.

The Windward product has shifted the focus away from watching individual ocean-going vessels to an analysis of all available ship data, revealing hidden behaviour patterns, vessel networks and suspicious activities to provide understanding of the world’s oceans.
