The US plans to send 14 ships to the Yokosuka base led by a Ronald Reagan Nimitz-class nuclear-powered super-carrier that is bound to arrive this autumn.

The US has deployed a guided-missile cruiser, USS Chancellorsville equipped with Aegis Baseline 9 combat system on a permanent basis in Japan, Tass reported Thursday.

The cruiser arrived at the US base in Yokosuka, Japan and is the first of three ships fitted with integrated naval weapons system designed to track and guide weapons to destroy enemy targets. The other two will be deployed by late 2017.
