The Russian Air Force demonstrated the new Merlin-21b surveillance drone that is equipped with dual-band radar at the Army-2015 forum.

"The new Russian unmanned aerial vehicle Merlin-21b is equipped with a proprietary compact radio-radar station and was demonstrated at the Army-2015 forum," the  press office of Defense Ministry reported.

The new drone is capable of conducting aerial surveillance in any weather conditions and in any time of the day and transmitting data in real time.

"The decimeter band of the radar allows detection of objects hidden from visual view and camouflaged with leaves. While the centimetre band allows capturing of hi-resolution images," a representative of the Defence Ministry said.

Merlin-21b is capable of conducting flights at an altitude of up to three kilometres and has a flight range of up to 600 kilometres.
