Russian Western Military District will have 10 multi-purpose Sukhoi Su-35 and Su-35M fighter jets by the end of this year.

"In total, more than 10 Su-35 and Su-30SM multipurpose fighters will go into service in the Western Military District units before the end of 2015 within the framework of the State Defence Order," district spokesman Oleg Kochetkov was quoted as saying by Tass on Monday.

"They will be put on combat duty to protect the western and north-western air frontiers of Russia," Oleg said.

According to him, the flight and engineering and technical personnel are currently completing retraining for the new fighter jets.
