Piriou Wins Moroccan Navy’s 50 Meter Landing Craft Tank Contract

Morocco has awarded 50 meters LCT (Landing Craft Tank) building contract to French Shipyard PIRIOU.

The LCT will be operated in the coastal waters of Morocco by the nation’s Navy. This new unit will be built in France with delivery expected in mid-2016.

The contract also includes training in Concarneau for the first crew (for both operation of the vessel and maintenance training).

The LCT is based on civilian version and is designed for the transportation vehicles, various cargo as well as for the supply of water and diesel. It is fitted with two cranes and a door at the bow for "roll on roll off" (RORO) as well as on beach or on dock.

The LCT can hold 22 crew members and can travel with a speed of 10 knots and has a dead weight of 300 tons.
