Fresh satellite images have suggested that the North Korea has completed upgrade to its main rocket launch site possibly for a launch that is supposed to take place in October.

The US-Korea Institute at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies said that the analysis of the new pictures captured on 21st July indicate that the construction of a support building on the launchpad where rockets would be prepared is completed. It began the construction in spring 2015 at the Sohae launch centre, the various media reported today.

It has also completed a moveable structure on rails, several storeys high that would be used to shift rockets or rocket stages to the launch tower, and constructed a 240-metre long shelter to hide a rail line from satellite observation while equipment was being transported to the Launchpad.

Such launch would be viewed by the international community as a disguised ballistic missile test and result in the imposition of fresh sanctions - mainly increasing military tensions on the Korean peninsula.

However, the institute said that there was no sign of actual launch preparations.

South Korean officials are guessing that the North will mark the upcoming 70th anniversary of the ruling communist party with a "strategic provocation" as the launchpad at Sohae might be used to test a missile on that occasion.

There is also possibility that the North Korea might be launching satellite as the North’s regime leader, Kim Jong-un was quoted as saying by state media in early May that the North would launch satellites into space at times and locations chosen by the ruling party.
