General Dynamics Wins $75 Million US Army Contract For Stryker Vehicle Cannons
A 30mm Stryker 8X8 Armoured Wheeled Vehicle.

General Dynamics has been awarded a $75 million contract to design a 30mm cannon for the US Army Stryker infantry carrier vehicles.

The contract awarded is for development of eight prototypes, the US Department of Defense announced Friday.  The cannons will be mounted on an unmanned, stabilized turret onto the Stryker infantry carrier vehicle platform.

Per requirement, these contracts are only obligated to be funded up to 50 percent and this contract has obligated $30 million.

Work has an estimated completion date of Jan. 15, 2021.

The eight-wheeled Stryker combat vehicle is the US Army’s Stryker Brigade Combat Team primary combat and combat support platform. Significantly lighter and more transportable than existing tanks and armored vehicles, the Stryker fulfills an immediate requirement to provide Combatant Commanders with a strategically deployable (C-17/C-5) and operationally deployable (C-130) brigade capable of rapid movement anywhere on the globe in a combat ready configuration.
