Russia is delivering 10,000 AK-47 assault rifles to Afghan Forces as part of Moscow’s efforts to equip the troops to counter terrorist activity.

“Deliveries are underway. This morning, an official handover ceremony (for the batch of 10,000 AK-47 assault rifles) was held in Kabul. Afghan officials and Russian Ambassador Alexander Mantytskiy were present during the ceremony. So the deliveries are nearing completion,” Kabulov told RIA Novosti Wednesday.

Russian President’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov said late in December last year “Russia has been consistently pursuing the policy of providing comprehensive assistance to Afghanistan in the establishment of a peaceful, independent, stable and self-sufficient state, free from terrorism and drugs.”
