Philippines has acquired two additional C-130 Hercules planes from the US for $34 million (P1.6 billion) for its Air Force (PAF).
One of the newly refurbished cargo and transport aircraft will be arriving this month while the second is due in September, outgoing Air Force Commander Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Delgado was quoted as saying by PhilStar news daily Wednesday.
The acquisition of the two cargo planes will fully meet the lift requirements of the military, which is currently using one C-130 and three medium-lift C-295 to transport troops and cargo.
Delgado bows out of the military service today, a few days ahead of his mandatory retirement age of 56 years on March 20.
