India’s Bharat Electronics (BEL) will allow private defense entities to use its test facilities.
BEL has prepared a policy to allow private defense entities to use its test facilities, the company said in a statement Thursday.
It recognizes outsourcing as one of the strategic tools to achieve cost benefits and also complement the strengths of private sector to build a strong industrial base, it has formulated long-term outsourcing and vendor development policy to focus more on core areas and Research and Development, the statement said.
BEL has been substantially investing around 8 percent of its turnover on R&D annually and is planning to increase to 10% progressively in the next 3 years. It has institutionalized a process for 3-year Roll-on R&D plan based on customer perspective and technology roadmap.
BEL is also in the process of setting up a new Product Development & Innovation Centre for developing common sub-systems and futuristic products.
