The Kuwait Ministry of Defence and Finmeccanica have signed a contract for the supply of 28 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, to be built in Italy.
The intergovernmental contract was signed in presence of Italian Defense Minister Roberta Pinotti and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Shaikh Gen. Khalid Al Jarrah Al Sabah Tuesday, the company said in a statement.
The contract includes E-Scan radar (electronic scanning radar) developed by the European consortium EuroRADAR and supplies in the areas of logistics, operational support and 'training of flight crews and ground staff , which will be conducted in collaboration with the' Italian Air Force .The agreement includes upgrading of infrastructure in Kuwait necessary operations of the aircraft.
Kuwait will have to pay KD 2.6 billion (US $8.6 billion) for the purchase of 28 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets.
