Sikorsky Aircraft has secured a foreign military sales contract worth $54 million from the US Army to provide seven UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters to Mexico.

“Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., Stratford, Connecticut, was awarded a $54,991,000 modification (P00245) to foreign military sales contract (Mexico) W58RGZ-12-C-0008 for seven uniquely configured UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters,” the US Department of Defense announced Monday.

Work will be performed in West Palm Beach, Florida, with an estimated completion date of Feb. 28, 2019.

The Mexican military currently owns six Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopters delivered in December 2015. An initial order of 18 helicopters for the air force was placed in April 2014 and was followed by orders of five in June 2014 and three more in March 2015 for the Navy under foreign military sales contracts.

The Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk is a four-bladed, twin-engine, medium-lift utility helicopter that has been operated by the US Army since 1979.
