The Chinese Air Force will showcase H-6K medium and long range bomber to the public for the first time at an aviation open activity held from September one.

The event, under the theme of "Pursuing the Aero Dream", is to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Old Northeast Aviation School in Changchun, northeast China's Jilin province, Shen Jinke, spokesperson for the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force, said on August 26.

The H-6K is China's homegrown medium and long range bomber, and it is mainly used for long range precision strikes and tactical bombing missions, China Military online reported Monday.

In 2015, the H-6K bombers flew four times out of the first island chain and reached the Western Pacific for military exercises, and also joined China's V-Day Military Parade.

In 2016, the H-6K bombers conducted combat patrol in the South China Sea to defend national sovereignty, security and maritime rights and interests. Meanwhile, the H-6K bomber also participated in air patrol of the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).

Other equipment, such as the KJ-500 Airborne Early Warning (AEW) plane which has participated in East China Sea ADIZ air patrol, the HQ-9 surface-to-air missile system and airborne infantry fighting vehicle that have joined China's V-Day Military Parade, will also be held for the public display during the event.

The KJ-500 is China's homegrown new medium-sized all-weather multi-sensor airborne early warning and command and control aircraft, and it is responsible for air patrol and command and control tasks.

The HQ-9 surface-to-air missile system is the third generation of ground air defense equipment and the medium-to-high-altitude long-range air defense equipment of PLA. It is mainly used to fight against all types of air attack targets.

The Aviation University of the PLA Air Force, which was established based on the Old Northeast Aviation School, will send two flight demonstration teams to join hands with the Bayi Aerobatic Team of PLA Air Force in flight demonstration during the activities.

At the same time, the J-10 model aircraft show, flight show of JL-9 and L-10 trainer aircraft and J-11 fighter jet will also be held. The retired Yak, MIG, CJ-5 and JL-5 aircraft will also participate in the static display.
