GE Aviation has been awarded $45 million contract to provide support services for various General Electric T700 engines.

Work is expected to be complete by Sept. 24, 2021, the US department of defense said in a statement Tuesday.

The -701D turbo-shaft engine powers both the newest Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk and Boeing AH-64E helicopters.

Developed in response to the United States Army’s requirement to deliver added power and improved field maintainability, 20,000 T700/CT7 engines have now surpassed 100 million flight hours in nearly four decades of service, according to GE.
